Salary : $175-$225k annual base excellent compensation

THE COMPANY

Hamilton Mayer International is excited to be working closely with a globally recognised construction firm. Specifically, this search will be partnering with the U.S. construction arm of the business to identify a Senior Project Manager for their expanding heavy civil division in Southern California. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex infrastructure projects and contribute to the company's continued growth within the vibrant SoCal market.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving projects from pursuit to completion, mirroring the dual responsibility of a key operational leader. Your expertise will be crucial in managing alternative delivery projects (CMAR, CMGC, Progressive DB, Design-Build) within the heavy civil transportation sector, focusing on complex structures and bridge construction within the Southern California region.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Pursuit & Preconstruction Leadership :

Serve as the Operations Lead during the pursuit phase, collaborating with Strategic Pursuit, Estimating, Proposal / Marketing, and Design Partners.
Conduct thorough operational assessments, contribute to technical development, and formulate robust constructability strategies.
Evaluate project risks, develop innovative technical approaches, propose Alternative Technical Concepts (ATCs), and conduct value engineering.
Shape comprehensive construction execution plans, ensuring alignment with operational capabilities and competitive solutions within the SoCal market.
Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings, ensuring understanding of job scope.

Project Execution & Delivery :

Lead the delivery of traditional design / build / heavy bid-build highway projects involving complex structures and bridge construction within Southern California.

Manage multiple components of large design-build heavy civil projects, ensuring efficient execution and adherence to schedules and budgets.

Support constructability analysis, construction phasing, risk mitigation, and execution strategy development.

Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders (owners, subcontractors, public and private entities) to optimize project delivery within the SoCal region.

Transition into the PM / Project Sponsor role post-award, where practical, ensuring continuity from pursuit to construction.

Be responsible for managing all aspects of multi-million-dollar heavy civil infrastructure work which will involve operations, commercial, financial, and health and safety.

Leadership & Collaboration :

Command respect on-site, demonstrating professionalism and driving efficient project delivery.

Offer guidance to senior leadership on the effectiveness of work being carried out.

Lead project mobilization and contribute to the pursuit of future growth in the SoCal region.

Develop knowledge of and communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and private entities to ensure competitiveness.

KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

A degree in Civil Engineering or similar is preferred but not essential.

Minimum 15 years of industry experience in transportation, ideally within the heavy civil market in California.

Proven track record of successfully leading heavy civil transportation projects to completion.

Demonstrated experience working with major Caltrans and Local Authorities.

Experience managing alternative delivery projects (CMAR, CMGC, Progressive DB, Design-Build).

Strong understanding of complex structures and bridge construction.

Ability to manage multi-million-dollar projects and oversee operational, commercial, financial, and health and safety aspects.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives.

Demonstrated experience and willingness to travel within the Southern California region to assist other project teams further when they need help.
