What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Service Exercise Physiologist - PRN position at Hamilton Medical Center Inc?
The Clinical Exercise Physiologist treats a variety of diagnoses with a high degree of professional and medical competency to ensure quality patient care. Assesses, prescribes, and implements exercise therapy for the cardiac patients. Assists with developing positive lifestyle habits for Cardiac Rehab patients. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of a plan of care. Educates patients on a variety of health related topics. Follows the teaching plan based upon identified learning, cultural, and psychosocial needs. Leads strength training and balance classes. Monitors each patients heart function from our EKG monitoring system and documents patient data in their chart. Completes patient medical charts and monthly reporting in compliance with Medicare and JACHO standards. Finalizes patient discharge documentation once the patient completes the Cardiac Rehab program. Works closely with covering physicians. First responder for emergency situations in Cardiac Rehab and the Bradley Wellness Center. Competent with the use of an AED and portable oxygen.
Education: Bachelors degree in Exercise Science.
Licensure: BLS certified and ACLS certified (within 6 months from hire). ACSM preferred.
Experience: Cardiac Rehabilitation experience preferred. Proficient in checking blood pressures manually and reading EKG rhythm strips.
Skills: Must be able to effectively prescribe and provide exercise therapy to various populations, including appropriate documentation, interpretation of medical data, and to be able to communicate effectively to the patient and their support structure, colleagues, physicians, and other health care workers. Must be able to implement and supervise the physical exercise programs in Clinical Services. Efficient in reading EKG strips, using an AED and portable oxygen, and taking manual blood pressures. Competent in emergency situations.
