Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment by implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and promoting occupational health standards. This role is crucial in fostering a culture of safety within the organization and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. This position is on site throughout Maryland with an emphasis in Northern Maryland. Some travel may be reqiured.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs in accordance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide training to on site employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management to develop risk management strategies that minimize workplace injuries and accidents.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Serve as a resource for on site employees regarding safety concerns and best practices.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards.
- Proficient in risk management techniques and compliance management.
- Familiarity with occupational health principles.
- Experience in construction management is preferred; knowledge of construction management software is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey safety information.
- Ability to build strong relationships with employees at all levels to promote a culture of safety.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to assess risks and implement effective solutions.
