What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Supervisor position at Hamilton Southeastern Schools?
QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiar with and willing to abide by general traffic laws, rules and regulations of the State Board of Education, and rules and regulations of the employing board of education concerning transportation of school children. Experience with or in an education environment. Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of personal computers and Windows operating systems. Proven management experience and demonstrated ability to work with people in an effective manner. Reasonable ability to assist in the development of policy. Good communication skills, both oral and written. Good reputation and good record of behavior; shall be the type of individual that would be respected by his/her coworkers.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Able to make management decisions that affect the daily operation of a rapidly growing organization.
· Support Director of Transportation in the development and enforcement of departmental policies and directives. Work as a team player.
· Exhibit knowledge of routing and GPS systems and ability to retrieve pertinent information.
· Obtain knowledge of district boundaries, schools, and neighborhoods.
· Interact with drivers, parents, and students regarding behavior issues on buses.
· Work with school administrators in the development and enforcement of bus rules and disciplinary actions.
· Must be a fully licensed or willing to obtain CDL with school bus endorsement and have ability to substitute on any route with little or no advance notification.
· Willingness to temporarily fulfill the duties of any transportation staff member.
· Coordinate dispatch including supervision, assigning substitute drivers, double routes, collaboration with garage, etc.
· Serve as back-up Director and/or Assoc. Director as needed.
· Other duties as assigned by the Director to assist in the day-to-day function of the department.
