Position Title: Veterinary Technician/Experienced Assistant

Position Overview: As a Veterinary Technician at Hamlin Animal Hospital, you will be a crucial member of our family-oriented team. Your role is to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to our patients while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. We value our staff and support their educational goals and career advancement in veterinary medicine.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Restraint and Handling: Properly restrain patients for procedures such as blood draws, catheter placements, injections, and physical exams, ensuring the safety of both staff and patients.
- Venipuncture: Draw blood from cephalic, saphenous, jugular veins, IV catheter placement.
- Technical skills: Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain proper records, administer oral and injectable medications, perform radiographs, update Veterinarian on patient status and vitals, monitor routine and critical anesthetic cases and have proper knowledge of stable parameters, client education.
- Equipment & Environment: Maintain, clean, and ensure readiness of the clinic. Sterilize exam rooms and treatment areas to keep appointments flowing smoothly.
- Communication: Answer phone calls, relay questions or concerns, schedule appointments, take messages, perform call backs to check on patients, and respond to emails as needed.
- Record Keeping: Accurately take medical history and vitals, documenting information in patient medical records.
- Safety and OSHA Compliance: Follow proper safety protocols and adhere to OSHA regulations and standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Commit to learning and advancing your skills. We encourage and support continuous education and professional development in the veterinary field.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary hospital setting required, CVT/RVT preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of veterinary software and medical terminology required.
- Strong communication skills and a teamwork mentality.
- Passionate commitment to animal welfare and customer service.
- Good organizational skills.
- Good multitasking
- Anesthetic skills preferred
- Venipuncture skills required

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time
Pay: $17-20 per hour (Higher compensation negotiable based on experience)
Expected Hours: 30 – 40 per week
