It is standard for CDL Class A drivers to drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVWR, to transport and deliver materials and equipment to and from a job site. CDL drivers are expected to load and unload items hauled. CDL drivers are required to maintain a valid driver’s license, keep logbooks, attend DOT safety meetings, be familiar with Cargo securement laws, and sustain a clean driving record, and drive safely at all times. In addition to the standard CDL driving duties, CDLs may at times be asked to complete the laborer and operator (if qualified) duties. CDL drivers are expected to be able to endure physical demands such as bend, stoop, squat, or stand for a significant period of time, lift at least fifty pounds, climb a ladder, and withstand outside temperature changes.
