Role and Responsibilities
- B-Tech Assistant
- Inspect, repair, and adjust diesel power units, hydraulic systems, injection valves and systems on various equipment types as needed
- Perform welding operations on equipment. Required to have some welding knowledge as well as experience in the field (frequent field dispatch)
- Perform operation and maintenance requirements of heavy duty construction equipment, semis and trailers, light and medium duty pickups and small engines
- Execute care and use of hand and power tools employed in all phases of equipment mechanical maintenance and repair work.
- Skilled in the use of automotive servicing equipment such as A/C recycler, hydraulic jack and data port diagnostic software, etc
- Analyze and diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment, semis and trailers, light and medium duty pickups and small engines
- Ability to replace or adjust filters belts or similar objects to maintain equipment
- Execute and maintain company preventative maintenance program
- Adjusts and repairs gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel powered engines on light and heavy equipment utilizing diagnostic and calibration tools as needed
- Completes overhauls on gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel powered engines and transmissions ( i.e. replacing valves, gaskets, fuel systems, hydraulic components, cooling systems, clutches, differentials assemblies, drive units, auxiliary motors and pumps, steering systems and performs wheel alignments, to include body repair, etc)
- Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs electronic and electrical systems to include computers, batteries, alternators, electronically controlled engines, starters, wiring harnesses, regulators, relay switches, and other related electrical components
- Responsible for maintaining records and creation of reports pertaining to repair and maintenance of all equipment utilizing company’s computer maintenance management system
- Conducts routine and annual inspection of vehicles and equipment and performs preventative maintenance
- Ownership of Tools
- Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or G.E. D
- Postsecondary degrees in diesel technology, heavy equipment mechanics, and small engine repair, engineering or similar
- Complete line of tools including specialized tools needed to complete repair work
- Welding knowledge as well as welding experience in the field
- Familiarity and commitment to safe work practices related to job duties
- Technical and mechanical competence related to heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers
- Exhibits leadership and team player attitude when working
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Must be able to meet physical demands of the job such as remaining in a standing position for extended periods of time. Be capable of lifting arms above shoulder level as well as bend or stoop repeatedly over time. Be capable of manipulating tools in areas of limited spaces. Must be able to move heavy objects fifty pounds or more long distances
- Subject to environmental factors and on the job hazards such as cold and hot temperatures, chemicals, gases, irregular working hours, pinch points, and loud noises
- Expected to uphold safe work practices and complete required on the job training as needed
