What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steel Fabrication Quality Control Inspector position at Hammer Haag Steel?
Fast growing company looking for a problem solver to develop, implement and sustain quality processes. As the company grows past $50 million in revenue, this long-term position will dig into the root cause of organizational mistakes, work with the team to develop process solutions, and sustain implementation.
In this position, the leader will work with the steel manufacturing team to help determine and identify root causes of manufacturing issues, help develop and implement a process to prevent reoccurring issues, and evaluating performance.
Core Responsibilities:
- Ability to inspect weld tests to determine if welders are qualified per AWS codes and specifications.
- CWI Preferred, VT Level 2 is Preferred, MT, PT, VT, & RT Level 3 is acceptable as well.
- Perform a dimensional and visual inspection of shop fabrication, which includes final paint inspections, weld preparations final welds, and paint inspections such as mill-tests.
- Responsible for fabricated materials conforming to drawings, shop standards, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Record and maintain in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control.
- Identify and remedy drawing discrepancies with detailers.
- Coordinates with customers' inspectors during inspection phases.
- Inform foremen of defects in fabrication.
- Assists shop personnel with the interpretation of codes, drawings, and specifications
- 5 years in a previous QC/QA department experience within the steel fabrication industry required.

-Authorization to work in the USA.
-Must be able to pass a drug test.
-Willingness to work over-time when required.
-Candidate must be a self-motivated individual.
-Ability to work at a fast pace.
