We are seeking an Industrial Designer II to join our dynamic team at Hammerton. This role requires a creative and detail-oriented designer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lighting design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. This position involves managing complex design projects with minimal supervision and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative lighting solutions to life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and present designs concepts with, hand sketches, CAD models, and renderings.
- Conduct comprehensive research on market trends, materials, lighting technologies, and user needs.
- Lead the creation and testing of prototypes to refine and validate designs.
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and production teams to ensure seamless product development.
- Provide mentorship to junior designers by reviewing work and offering constructive feedback.
- Ensure designs meet aesthetic, functional, and manufacturability standards while aligning with brand identity.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in decorative lighting design.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial design, with a focus on decorative lighting preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, Vizcom, Blender, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
- Required software: Keyshot and SolidWorks
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to sketch, model, and render lighting designs effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and lighting technologies.
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities to work effectively across teams.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for 8 hours per day.
- Able to lift 50 pounds to shoulder level.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- This position works primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with dust and moderate to high noise level.
