POSITION SUMMARY
Hammocks on the Edisto is a unique, gender-specific (women), intimate, 15 bed facility on the banks of the Edisto River just 25 minutes outside of Charleston. We focus on underlying trauma that drives a primary substance use disorder while offering high-level intensity of evidence-based therapies. This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist just starting on thier professional journey or for someone with experience with a passionate desire to work with women in this field s they enter a journey into long-term recovery!
The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the onsite operations of the admissions process and will include: screenings, intakes, admissions, referrals, alumni follow-up, and contact with families. In addition, this position works along the Director of Business Development and assisting referrals from local /state/national partners for admission to Hammocks on the Edisto. This position requires excellent communication and includes coordinating with several departments to ensure a seamless admission for women embarking on a journey into recovery at Hammocks on the Edisto.
The desired candidate in this position understands the importance of “first impressions” , the importance of the journey about to commence, and strives for the best when welcoming patients, family members, guests to the facility, and underscoring it throughout the department and facility.
QUALIFICATIONS
At a minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field and a minimum two (2) years’ experience in the addiction and/or mental health treatment field
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field and (1) year experience with inpatientAdmissions
- OR a combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field
- Licensure: LPC-A, seeking opportunities to learn with potential for growth internally
- Certification: Addictions or seeking certification through APSC. CPSS's welcome to apply!
- Supervision hours can be provided for people seeking licensure and/or certification.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Administrative
1. Answer and screen all inquiry calls.
2. Follow-up on inquiry calls to schedule potential screenings that may lead to admissions.
3. Perform pre and post admission benefit verification with managed care organizations when necessary.
4. Process all necessary paperwork on all new patients in a timely manner and in accordance with established protocols.
5. Ensure that admission forms are signed correctly and are included in the patient’s treatment record.
6. Maintain relationship with Business Office and assists with medical records, as needed.
7. Maintain a working knowledge of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) used by HOTE.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Clinical
1. Maintain a working knowledge of substance use and co-occurring disorders signs, symptoms, and treatment options.
2. Recognize signs and symptoms of intoxication and withdrawal from different substances.
3. Interact in a clinically appropriate manner with diverse patient populations.
4. Obtain all clinical pertinent information (including, but not limited to, demographics, insurance information, clinical intake assessment information, Suicide Risk Assessment, and other information as directed), on incoming patients by interviewing referral sources, patients, and/or their families in a courteous and efficient manner.
5. Assess and distinguish level of care for patients based on clinical interview using ASAM criteria.
6. Provide patient and family education concerning projected treatment plan and episode.
7. Complete documentation in accordance with Federal, State, and The Joint Commission regulations as well as third-party payers/managed care organization requirements and HOTE expectations, policies and procedures.
8. Provide follow-up to former patients of HOTE to assess for follow-through with discharge plan, aftercare appointments and recovery success. Provide guidance and assessment when and where needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accept responsibility for professional growth and development of self and Hammocks on the Edisto.
2. Adhere to policies and procedures.
3. Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities, as scheduled.
4. Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality.
5. Support facility wide performance improvement goals and objectives.
6. Maintain confidentiality of facility employees, individuals who make inquiries to the facility and former and current patients.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Local travel for community outreach, public relations, and marketing activities (when necessary).
2. Direct and indirect patient contact, as deemed appropriate.
3. Work in an office environment and be able to tolerate gradient levels of standing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
4. Tolerate stressful situations and various conditions unpleasant to the sense of sight, touch, and smell.
5. Ability to adjust to large fluctuations in workload and willing and able to assist with other duties during times of decrease in workload.
ATTENDANCE/PUNCTUALITY EXPECTATIONS
- Reliable in punctuality and attendance, adhering to facility policies.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of benefit time without such things as:
- Recurring absences in conjunction with days off.
- Frequent occurrences of single days off.
- Complies with company and departmental policies with respect to attendance, which includes providing required documentation and notification of at least two hours prior to starting time or as established by departmental policies.
- Adheres to time allotted for breaks and meals and returns to work at designated times.
- Does not experience absences that adversely affect the ability of the department to satisfactorily perform essential job functions.
