Description

The Hampden County Sheriff's Office is looking to hire a Re-Entry Assistant to help justice-involved people successfully reintegrate into society. The Re-Entry Assistant will work alongside the Employment Program Team at our All-Inclusive Support Services center in Springfield, helping clients obtain and excel at meaningful employment.

The Re-Entry Assistant will build and maintain relationships with businesses and agencies that hire clients and be comfortable conducting spot-checks on clients. The job also requires the Re-Entry Assistant to serve as a liaison with substance use disorder programs, shelters, and our clients, to ensure they are getting any and all supports needed to be successful.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with one 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. shift.

Requirements

Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in counseling, criminal justice, social work, rehabilitation or related field, or three (3) years equivalent experience required.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in substance use, mental health and co-occurring disorders required.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in casework management principles and practices, and how these apply to the public offender population.
Ability to develop, evaluate and properly utilize in-house and community resources applicable to the community re-entry of public offenders.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to prepare effective, concise and accurate written reports.
Highly developed organizational skills inclusive of the ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate effective strategies for ensuring successful public offender community re-entry.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, inclusive of developing and maintaining productive human service provider/client relationships.
Ability to conduct group and individual orientation training, ongoing training, effective client supervision.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with community-based agencies, state agencies, clinicians, landlords, and other organizations/individual representatives providing potential services to the client population.
Physical health necessary to perform job duties and responsibilities.
Valid Driver’s License.
Maintain known and accessible telephone number.
