In this per diem position, you’ll provide both individualized and group instruction to students participating in our education programs. You’ll focus on teaching essential literacy skills, including reading and writing, with an emphasis on helping emergent literacy students build the foundational skills they need to succeed. Using the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRSAE) and Evidence-Based Reading Instruction (EBRI) methods, you will make a lasting impact on students' educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide literacy instruction to students, focusing on foundational reading and writing skills.
- Administer assessments like the Diagnostic Assessment of Reading (DAR) for student placement and the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) or MA Adult Proficiency Test (MAPT) for student progress.
- Teach according to established adult education standards and best practices.
- Help justice-involved individuals take essential steps toward improving their educational outcomes and achieving their goals.
Qualifications:
- Experience or strong interest in teaching adult learners, especially in literacy or basic education.
- Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction methods (EBRI).
- Ability to assess and meet individual learning needs of students.
- Compassionate and patient with a commitment to supporting students' personal growth and success.
