Assistant Tennis Coach

Hampden-Sydney College invites applications for an Assistant Tennis Coach. Reporting to the Head Tennis Coach, the Assistant Tennis Coach supports the mission of the College by assisting with leadership and managing of the College’s tennis program, developing and executing effective coaching strategies, recruiting talented athletes, overseeing practices and matches, fostering a positive athlete culture, and ensuring the overall success and growth of the program. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.

This coaching position will be a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual seeking a full-time position in college athletics who would also be a great teacher and make a positive difference. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:   

• Bachelor’s Degree with 1 year of prior coaching experience is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. 
• Must have a valid US driver's license.
• Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices.
• Ability to work in a diverse work environment and build and maintain relationships with college administrators, parents, students and alumni. 
• Organize and manage all facets of the program including recruiting, scouting, individual instruction, budget planning, monitoring academic progress and success of student-athletes. 
• Lead and work independently as well as within a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches as well as athletic and college administration.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Frequent travel is required.
• Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics and adherence to NCAA regulations regarding operation of athletic programs. 
• Strong planning and organizational skills. Capacity to market the department to the various constituencies of the College and surrounding community.
