Description
Hampden-Sydney College is accepting applications for a Registrar. Reporting to the Provost and Dean of the Faculty, the Registrar supports the mission of the College by managing and overseeing all aspects of student records, enrollment, and academic operations, and ensuring the integrity of academic transcripts and compliance with institutional policies and regulations. The Registrar provides strategic oversight for the department and employee supervision and guidance.
Duties
Serves as a primary information source for students, faculty, administration, parents, and alumni to discuss academic procedures and policies relative to advising, course scheduling, grades, probation/suspension, and student records.
Maintains graduation audits for all students. Counsels students, seniors in particular, about requirements remaining for graduation.
Oversees the graduation application process assuring that all students who intend to graduate provide the name to appear on the diplomas, order diplomas, and proofs them before forwarding them to the President for signing. Orders diplomas for all honorary degree recipients. Presents degree candidates to the Faculty for approval.
Plans, organizes, and supervises the matriculation for the opening of school each semester.
Coordinates on-line class registration as well as class rolls, mid-term grades, and final grades. Communicates mid-term grade reports, and grades to students at the end of each term.
Evaluates transfer work for students who seek credit from courses taken elsewhere. Counsels students and parents regarding transfer work. Enters approved credits into the student database.
Maintains longitudinal data on enrollment and classroom usage to detect critical trends and forwards summaries to inform strategic decisions.
Manages the registration and advisor modules of the administrative software system, Jenzabar. Assure that data are up-to-date and that formats are established to provide timely reports as needed by academic departments and administrative offices.
Serve as coordinator for the exchange program with Longwood College and with the Seven College Exchange Program. Handle cross-registrations and processing of other related items.
Provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Associate Registrar, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Recruits, develops, and retains top talent, ensuring a skilled and motivated workforce.
Monitors and manage the department budgets, resources, and expenditures effectively.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree or doctoral degree and prior Registrar Office experience is preferred.
