Job purpose
As a Café Attendant, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for our Members and Guests. You will be responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with daily operations in our café. A passion for hospitality and a positive attitude is essential for success in this role.
The Café Attendant requires a blend of customer service, casual food service, barista skills, and simple food preparation. Previous service experience is essential.
Duties and responsibilities
- Welcome Members and Guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Demonstrates genuine hospitality in serving Members and Guests.
- Maintain knowledge of food and beverage menu offerings.
- Prepares and serves a variety of hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, tea, smoothies, wine and spirits.
- Assembles and serves food and beverages prepared to Glen Kernan Club standards.
- Provide recommendations based on customer tastes and preferences to enhance their experience.
- Ensure the food and beverage is made correctly and consistently in a timely manner.
- Keep track of inventory and restock supplies as needed.
- Monitor Members and Guest needs throughout their visit, ensuring satisfaction and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Process payments and handle cash transactions in accordance with Club policies.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace.
- Follow health and safety guidelines for food handling and preparation.
- Complete opening and closing procedures as outlined in the F&B Manual.
- Acknowledges Members and Guests, politely thanks the members and guests upon departure.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food and beverage service, preferably in a country club setting.
- Ability to use a point-of-sale system.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Working conditions
Work is primarily outdoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 40 lbs. and up to 30 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 30 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf’s Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
Use the following safety precautions when using an 8ft. ladder:
- Correct placement of the ladder. The safest angle for a straight ladder is to ensure it is placed on-fourth the distance from the base to the point of support. “A” frame ladders naturally comply.
- Ensure the ladder is placed on a firm level surface, and do not place the ladder near a doorway.
- Ensure there are non-skid shoes on the ladder.
- If using a medal ladder, be sure that it is not near electrical wires.
- One person on a ladder at one time, and ensure another staff member is holding the ladder in position.
- Never overreach.
