Job purpose
Fitness & Aquatics Attendants are primarily responsible for providing a clean, safe, and helpful workout environment and swimming area/facility for the users of Jacksonville Golf & Country Club. Oversee the cleanliness and daily upkeep of the work out facility and pool area according to club standards.
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure a safe workout environment through constant circulation of the weight and cardio floors.
- Guides members through initial and progressive training sessions of flexibility, aerobic conditioning and strength training.
- Monitor fitness center; assists members with proper techniques, answers questions and provides information about health promotion and fitness.
- Be able to answer basic fitness questions and have knowledge of equipment and proper workout technique.
- Be available to manage fitness desk; check out equipment and answer questions as needed.
- Performs opening and closing duties of fitness center and pool area when required.
- Enforce all building policies and procedures, such as proper dress code for all users.
- Greets users of the fitness center; answers telephones and maintain files of program cards, testing and other information.
- Keep the fitness floor clean and make sure all weights and equipment/benches are in their proper place.
- Distributes towels.
- Assists the Fitness Director in initial and continued development of services with the Fitness Department.
- Responsible for general cleanliness and upkeep of pool area including pool furniture and trash removal.
- Set up pool chairs, fold towels and prep pool area.
- Welcome guests to the pool and consistently offer friendly and professional service.
- Kindly enforce club safety rules in the pool area.
- Assist guest with pool chairs and umbrellas.
- Enforce all building policies and procedures, such as proper dress code for all users.
- Wear proper uniform and be ready to work at the start of the shift.
- Execute emergency procedures when necessary.
- Report any incident of injury, theft, or broken equipment to Fitness Director.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and complete all required trainings.
- Communicate effectively with and complete tasks assigned by the Fitness Director and Activities Director.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
High School diploma; one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent communication skills
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and mornings
Regular and reliable attendance
Working conditions
Work is primarily indoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or exposure to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 40 lbs. .frequently and up to 30 lbs. constantly. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golfs Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
