Overview

We are offering a total of $1500.00 Hiring Incentive as follows: $750 after 6 months of employment; $750 after 12 months of employment (subject to your current tax rates).

 

Hampton will match up to 4 weeks per year of paid time off for relevant industry experience.

 

This position will be responsible for the management of rough lumber, loading/unloading kilns, helping with rough outfeed, and dry infeed as needed.   This person will report to the Rough-End Supervisor.  The person in this position will work overtime and other shifts as necessary to meet the needs of the operation.  It is every person’s job to maintain the rough-end to a world class standard of cleanliness and organization. 

 

This is a fulltime position: three 12  hour shifts and one 6 hour shift; followed by three days off each week (hours and days may vary to meet the needs of the facility).  Wage is $25.77 - $29.85 ($53,601 -  $62,088 annually not including applicable shift differential, overtime, or production bonuses).  Ability to earn more money when you are proficient in specified tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift to properly load and unload kilns and stack empty kiln carts
  • Ensure that kiln carts are lubed before loading
  • Complete Daily Inspection sheet prior to operating PIT
  • Stack empty kiln carts and put neatly in storage area as time allows
  • Sort out bad kiln carts and store in proper area and notify kiln personnel
  • Be self-motivated and a team player
  • Help other lift trucks when needed
  • Assist the outfeed of the sawmill and the infeed of the planer as needed
  • Maintain designated zone in rough yard
  • Maintain a clean work station, all tools and supplies used in our jobs will be stored and orderly
  • Forklift housekeeping includes but not limited to, blowing out engine compartment, washing lift, disinfecting, and removal of garbage.
  • Attention to detail and good time management skills
  • Assist in taking inventory
  • Keep pace with the mill flow
  • Use down time efficiently – (yard must be cleaned, sticks, dunnage, broken boards etc.)
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner
  • Limited mechanical knowledge and experience

Qualifications

  • PIT certification and/or obtain certification
  • Have strong communication both verbal and written
  • Ability to work/communicate professionally with sawmill and planer teams
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good hand/eye coordination
  • Strong computer skills is preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of lumber species and product mix preferred but not required
