Overview
We are looking for a Log Yard/Truck Shop Supervisor to join our Team! The person in this position is responsible for the overall performance of the Log Yard and Truck Shop departments in the Cowlitz Division (Randle, Morton, Napavine) including safety, quality, production, housekeeping and budget. In addition, this position requires formulating training in each of the forgoing disciplines to achieve optimum performance. A professional and positive attitude will be required when dealing with all customers inside and outside of the Company. Will also provide supervisory support and assist with procedures and record keeping functions for the Cowlitz Division environmental compliance requirements. This position is based in Randle, WA.
- Work schedule: Day Shift, Monday-Friday - Flexible as needed
- Salary exempt: $75,000-$95,000 annually (D.O.Q). Production bonuses are possible for every employee each month, based on the plant site's target goals.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for safety performance of the Log Yard and Truck Shop employees in the Cowlitz Division (Randle, Morton, Napavine).
- Will develop and enforce log yard procedures to ensure the safety of non-Hampton personnel on site, i.e. Log Scalers and Truck Drivers. The supervisor is to ensure all team members adhere to safe work practices and procedures and constructively confront those members who are not following same. Works in concert with the Cowlitz Division Plant Manager and Superintendents to establish and achieve joint safety goals.
- Will ensure quality standards are kept to a high standard at all times. Quality is to be monitored on a regular basis with corrective action taken as required.
- Will supervise the Log Yard and Truck Shop departments which includes leads, operators, and mechanic personnel to ensure that man power is utilized to maximum capabilities.
- Monitor and manage log inventories for optimum efficiency. Commands knowledge of log yard and truck shop procedures.
- Maintains a good relationships with all Hampton entities. Monitors and ensures rolling stock is maintained in an efficient manner. Coordinates log inventories and flow for the Cowlitz Division.
- Will maintain clean and orderly work environment in all Log Yard and Truck Shop locations. This includes buildings, grounds, lunchrooms, bathrooms, and rolling stock.
- Will help develop and understand the operating budget and works with the teams to achieve budget goals.
- Includes HR support staff in all personnel related issues/discussions.
- Report employee time keeping in an accurate manner to the HR/Payroll Coordinator.
- Must attend pertinent mill meetings.
- Must be willing to attend any training necessary to upgrade performance.
- Report incidents accordingly to protocol.
- Take care of crew needs regarding vacation and coverage.
- Assist in the hiring process as well as disciplinary procedures according to protocol.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years preferred of log yard or supervisory experience in lumber manufacturing.
- A strong understanding of business and operational procedures is a must.
- Understanding of inventory control with an emphasis on log inventory.
- Basic computer skills are essential.
- Demonstrated problem solving and organizing skills coupled with interpersonal communication skills is essential.
- Will be a leader. Will demonstrate a high degree of integrity. Will be honest and forthcoming with information.
- Will innovate techniques in problem solving and by extension, promote innovation in the crew
- Will have a positive attitude about daily activities and project a positive image to the crew.
- Will be a team builder and promote teamwork. Will work well with peers and contribute to the success of the company.
- Will be inquisitive and always looking for ways to do things better.
- Must maintain a Hampton PIT authorization and First Aid/CPR certification.
