This position requires proficiency in medical terminology, aseptic technique, and the ability to assist with IV infusion preparations. The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for ensuring that all medications are accurately dispensed and that patient safety is prioritized at all times.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including IV infusions, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care in critical care and acute care environments.
- Perform inventory management tasks, including ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceuticals.
- Educate patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and storage requirements as directed by the pharmacist.
- Ensure the pharmacy area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy practices.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred; relevant experience in a hospital or acute care setting is highly desirable.
