Job Summary
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in an assisted living facility. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing engaging activities that promote social interaction, physical well-being, and cognitive stimulation among residents. The Activities Director will work closely with staff, residents, and families to ensure that activities are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community.
Duties
- Develop and manage a comprehensive activity schedule that caters to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Plan and facilitate recreational therapy sessions and events that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Conduct assessments of residents’ needs related to activities of daily living (ADLs) and adjust programs accordingly.
- Provide counseling on aging issues to residents and their families, ensuring support is available for emotional challenges.
- Coordinate with social workers and healthcare professionals to integrate therapeutic activities into care plans.
- Organize special events, outings, and celebrations that foster community engagement and enhance resident satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and gather feedback from residents to improve programming.
- Train and supervise staff or volunteers involved in activity planning and implementation.
Skills
- Strong schedule management abilities to effectively coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of assisted living environments and best practices in dementia care.
- Experience in recreational therapy or related fields is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with residents, families, and staff effectively.
