What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Development Representative position at Hampton Roads Chamber?
Member Development Representatives are responsible for generating new business and retaining membership accounts in an active sales environment. A strong candidate will have a proven track record in business-to-business sales, excellent communication skills and independent work. Candidates must possess a desire to be a part of an organization recognized as THE region’s pro-business advocate, connector and collaborator. We provide a base salary, competitive monthly commissions and performance-based bonus plan.
Responsibilities:
- Sell memberships and related services to a wide range of businesses, from small companies to Fortune 500 corporations
- Ability to clearly define the Chamber’s mission and advocacy in moving business forward in the region
- Develop account relationships and close sales quickly
- Engage account representatives, mapping their needs to appropriate Chamber services and opportunities in order to prove tangible value of regional membership
- Prospect revenue opportunities and develop a pipeline
- Analyze and present monthly analytics reports

- Has previous experience in non-profit and/or association membership sales or fundraising

- Is metrics-oriented, organized and has a need to win
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of experience selling in a sales-driven, commissioned environment
- Exceptional written, verbal, phone and presentation skills
- Ability to quickly learn and consistently employ institutional processes
- Ability to work under pressure, organize and prioritize responsibilities
- Passion to educate current and prospective members
- Online and social marketing a plus
- Associate’s Degree or higher preferable
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
