Medical Director

Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Director will work as part of the medical provider team providing medical services to the patients of the community health center. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This position will work four days on the clinical floor and one day for administrative work.

There is currently a one time relocation assistance available up to $10,000 and a one time sign on bonus of $5,000 - $10,000 based on experience, for the Medical Director opportunity. 

• Provides primary medical care by caring for all patients in accordance with the physician’s medical specialty. 
• In conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer, develops clinical workflows for respective clinical staff. 
• Develops a plan of care for each patient, including complete medical history, physician examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and/or referral, including hospitalization, when necessary. 
• Maintains and communicates the importance of and keeps the compliance with clinical guidelines relating to preventive health care measures. 
• Utilizes all available resources in diagnosis and treatment, such as laboratory and radiological testing, in an appropriate and cost-efficient manner. 
• Confers with consulting physicians, nurses, patients, and patient’s families concerning treatment and care of patient. 
• Refers cases which require specialist services, but maintains responsibility, assuring that continuity of care is provided. 
• Serves as a clinical preceptor relating to medical education. 
• Serves as a mentor and guide for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as needed. 
• Educates support staff where needed to maintain patient safety and clinical workflow.
• Completes electronic health records according to practice standards and closes charts within the appropriate time frame. 
• Participates in the development and implementation of a regularly up-dated performance improvement plan for the consortium and disease collaborative(s). 
• Participates in the Health Promotion/Disease Prevention activities required by the U.S. Public Health Service. 
• Participates in the health center’s quality assurance program, including attending morning huddles to help maintain Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition and Joint Commission Accreditation.
• Perform administrative support work such as word processing, creating spreadsheets, data entry and retrieval, orders. 
• Monitors and distributes program supplies/resources; and other information to ensure accuracy and conformance to establish procedures and policies. 
• Counsel patients regarding patient responsibilities and rights; adheres to patient confidentiality guidelines. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.  Completion of an approved residency program in their field.  License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Board certified in their field.  Must be certified in Basic Life Support techniques.

Salary : $220,000 - $245,000
