The WWTP Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining wastewater treatment plants to ensure the efficient and effective treatment of wastewater according to regulatory and environmental standards. This role involves monitoring equipment, conducting tests, adjusting chemical dosages, and performing maintenance to ensure the plant operates smoothly. The WWTP Operator plays a crucial role in safeguarding public health and protecting the environment by treating wastewater before it is discharged
Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all WWTP plant operations and train/oversee other operators
- Communicate and coordinate with construction field staff on influent and effluent water
- Effectively manage coagulation and flocculation process
- Manage and operate pH adjustment process
- Manage chemical inventory
- Receive and manage chemical shipments
- Follow Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures
- Collect permit required samples and coordinate laboratory analysis
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate field water quality instruments (pH, Turbidity, etc.)
- Interpret lab results per requirements in permit
- Complete all reporting required by permits
- Calibrate meters (e.g., flow, pressure sensors)
- Follow safety rules and guidelines when working with chemical, mechanical or electrical equipment
- Monitor flow meters
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
- Create O&M checklists to ensure consistent performance
Maintain familiarity with all applicable plans and permits
Other Duties as Assigned or Requested
Qualifications
Required
Preferred
- Virginia Class 2 WWTP Operator License
- Potentially able to works night shift as needed, and/or weekends
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass drug screen.

- Working on construction site Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site.
