Organization: Hampton Roads Ecumenical Lodgings & Provisions, Inc (HELP Inc) is a faith-based nonprofit serving Hampton and Newport News through the provision of housing & homelessness services (including thermal shelter, emergency shelter, day support services, housing-focused case management) and dental care for uninsured adults.
Job Summary: The Nonprofit Housing Landlord Liaison plays a crucial role in facilitating communication and collaboration between nonprofit organizations, landlords, and tenants. The position will include the following responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities
Relationship Management:
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with landlords to encourage their participation in nonprofit housing programs. Act as a liaison between landlords and nonprofit organizations to address concerns, negotiate terms, and ensure smooth communication.
Tenant Placement:
Collaborate with nonprofit housing agencies to identify eligible tenants for available housing units. Facilitate the application process for tenants, ensuring that all necessary documentation is provided to landlords.
Lease Negotiation:
Negotiate lease agreements between landlords and tenants, ensuring terms are fair and in compliance with local housing regulations. Educate landlords about the benefits of participating in nonprofit housing programs.
Problem Resolution:
Address any disputes or issues that may arise between landlords and tenants during the lease period. Work towards finding amicable solutions to problems, with the goal of maintaining successful landlord-tenant relationships.
Community Outreach:
Conduct outreach activities to recruit new landlords into nonprofit housing programs. Participate in community events to promote awareness of affordable housing initiatives and engage potential landlords.
Policy Compliance:
Stay informed about local, state, and federal housing regulations and ensure that landlords are in compliance with relevant laws. Provide guidance to landlords on adhering to program guidelines and requirements.
Data Management:
Maintain accurate records of landlord and tenant interactions, lease agreements, and program participation. Generate reports to evaluate the effectiveness of the nonprofit housing initiatives.
Training and Education:
Offer training sessions or informational workshops for landlords to enhance their understanding of the nonprofit housing programs and their role in supporting affordable housing.
Advocacy:
Advocate for policies that support affordable housing and work towards building partnerships with local authorities and policymakers.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
Collaborate with other departments within the nonprofit organization, such as housing services, to ensure a coordinated approach to providing comprehensive support to tenants and landlords.
