Job Description: ENT/Allergy Medical Assistant with Scribe Experience
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant with Scribe experience to join our ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) and Allergy practice. This role combines patient care duties with documentation responsibilities, supporting physicians in providing exceptional care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical, administrative, and organizational skills and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Support:
- Prepare exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patient appointments.
- Assist physicians with ENT and allergy-specific procedures, such as ear cleanings, endoscopies, skin testing, and allergy shots.
- Obtain and document patient medical histories, vital signs, and chief complaints accurately in the medical record.
- Perform routine diagnostic tests, such as hearing tests or spirometry (if trained).
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medication usage, and allergy protocols.
- Scribe Responsibilities:
- Accurately document physician-patient interactions, including history of present illness (HPI), assessments, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions in real time.
- Review and update patient charts to ensure accurate and complete medical documentation.
- Assist physicians in coding and billing documentation for insurance claims.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all documentation practices.
- Administrative Duties:
- Schedule appointments, manage referrals, and coordinate follow-ups.
- Answer phones, triage calls, and provide excellent customer service to patients.
- Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and ensure they are stocked and organized.
- Support front desk operations as needed.
- Team Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Prior experience as a Medical Scribe in a clinical setting required; ENT/Allergy experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly related to ENT and Allergy care.
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
