Referral and Insurance Verification Specialist Job Description
- Verify insurance eligibility for scheduled appointments.
- Track and maintain insurance referrals to ensure continuity of care.
- Answer patient inquiries regarding their account balances.
- Process payments on behalf of patients.
- Verify benefits and coverage for services.
- Resolve billing inconsistencies and errors.
- Provide pricing to self-pay patients.
- Maintain confidentiality by adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in medical billing/collections REQUIRED
- Must possess knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (also known as EOBs, remittances, etc.) with an understanding of copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and denial codes.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Proficient customer service skills
- The ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of MS Office
