As an Assistant Coach for a Division 1 Volleyball program, your role will involve planning and organizing various aspects of the team’s operations. This includes assisting the Head Coach with daily tasks such as coaching and conditioning student-athletes, preparing for practices and games, and arranging team travel. Additionally, you will need to ensure compliance with CAA regulations, recruit new players, help develop existing student-athletes, support academic success, prepare for matches, and engage with the community.
Job Duties:
- Assists head coach in all facets of the program
- Abides by all CAA, institutional, and conference rules and regulations
- Provide leadership, organization, and supervision for practices and contests
- Assist in developing a player skill development program and a strength and conditioning program for team members.
- Maintain a standard of performance consistent with Hampton University and the Department of Athletics
- Assist in orgai1izing home contests ai1d away travel arrangements, along with practices and out-of-season workouts
- Ability to recruit highly competitive student-athletes that meet the stringent academic requirements ofHan1pton University
- Communicate with Sports Medicine, Sports Information, Strength. and Conditioning, and Administrative staff with regard to operations of the women’s volleyball program
- Attend departmental and other meetings as necessary
- Proficiency in performing various office duties such as managing a database of recruits, maintaining contacts and records
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of volleyball coaching experience or equivalent are required. Excellent communication skills are required. Knowledge of CAA rules and regulations preferred
- Must have excellent written and verbal skills; demonstrate the ability to manage complex issues and relationships; experience at a CAA institution, conference, or professional sports organization preferred.
