Summary
Hamrick's is seeking a dynamic and experienced Apparel Buyer to join our merchandising team. This role is crucial to ensuring a well-curated and competitive home goods selection that meets the needs of our customers and supports our business goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail buying and planning, vendor negotiation, trend analysis, and inventory management.
Responsibilities
Build category and merchandise strategies which support the company’s growth and promotional goals.
Run the day-to-day operations of the department including the financial accountability to the Open-to-Buy; accurate forecasting of weekly and monthly sales, implementation of promotional activity and building marketing strategies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiate pricing, delivery, terms and margin requirements.
Plan and manage classification assortments across multiple locations, ensuring consistency and variety.
Optimize sales, inventory levels, and gross profit by analyzing and evaluating current and projected trends.
Review and analyze sales performance, adjusting strategies to meet sales and margin goals.
React quickly to changing consumer demands and market trends.
Collaborate with marketing teams to create impactful promotions and campaigns for the apparel departments.
Travel as needed to attend trade shows, vendor meetings, and store visits.
Qualifications
3 years of experience in retail buying and planning, with a focus on footwear preferred.
Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency in trend forecasting and financial analysis.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Knowledge of retail merchandising software and systems is a plus.
Passion for retail and a strong understanding of the Hamrick's customer base.
Required Experience
3 years of experience in retail buying and planning, with a focus on footwear preferred.
