Job Summary:
The Enterprise Architect Data Center Consolidation & Migration is responsible for leading the strategic consolidation and migration of our data center infrastructure. This role focuses on analyzing existing data center assets, defining integration and migration strategies, and executing plans to optimize our IT footprint. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data center design, virtualization, and cloud migration strategies, ensuring that technology investments are aligned with business objectives while reducing operational complexity and costs.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Center Strategy & Roadmap Development:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for consolidating and migrating data centers.
Assess the current data center environment and define clear objectives for consolidation, including cost reduction, improved efficiency, and enhanced security.
Architecture Design & Integration:
Design robust, scalable, and secure data center architectures that support both current and future business needs.
Create detailed migration plans that outline the phased decommissioning of legacy systems, integration with cloud or hybrid environments, and minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Migration Execution & Oversight:
Lead and oversee the technical execution of data center migration projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and performance targets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate migration activities, manage risk, and resolve technical challenges during the consolidation process.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with third-party vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to align technology solutions with consolidation objectives.
Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal support and cost efficiency during and after migration.
Governance, Compliance & Best Practices:
Establish and enforce policies, standards, and best practices for data center consolidation and migration initiatives.
Ensure all solutions comply with security standards, regulatory requirements, and performance benchmarks.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of emerging trends in data center technology, cloud migration, and virtualization to identify opportunities for process improvements.
Implement innovative solutions that enhance overall infrastructure agility and reduce operational risks.
Project Leadership & Mentorship:
Lead large-scale data center consolidation projects, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and strategic direction to project teams.
Mentor junior architects and IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor s or master s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience:
A minimum of 15 years of IT experience with a strong focus on enterprise architecture, data center management, and migration projects.
Proven track record in planning and executing data center consolidations and migrations, including successful management of multi-phase projects.
Technical Expertise:
Deep understanding of data center architecture, virtualization, and cloud integration strategies (public, private, or hybrid).
Experience with technologies such as application migration, hyper-converged infrastructure, server virtualization, network design, and storage solutions.
Familiarity with data center consolidation methodologies, risk management, and performance optimization.
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of effectively engaging with technical teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications such as TOGAF, or similar credentials.
Experience with agile methodologies in large-scale migration projects.
