What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tire Service Technician position at Hancock County Cooperative Oil Association?
The Tire Service Technician will be required to inspect and assess damaged or worn tires on customer vehicles, replace or repair damaged tires, and balance or rotate tires. The TST may also be required to perform specialty work to include providing roadside assistance. The TST must engage with employees and customers daily in a positive, respectful and productive way.
Essential Duties:
- Deliver outstanding customer service
- Evaluate customer needs and make recommendations based on their needs
- Installs new tires and wheels
- Performs maintenance on tires, including rotations, balancing, and repairs
- Conducts basic maintenance and cleaning
- Provides helpful, friendly and responsive customer service
- Talking to the customer about any issues they are experiencing.
- Inspecting and assessing tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality, and overall health.
- Recommending appropriate repair treatment or replacement of tires.
- Repairing punctures and replacing faulty valves.
- Installing new tires.
- Balancing tires and completing wheel alignment procedures.
- Conducting inventory and maintaining equipment.
- Conducting road-side repairs.
- Participates in training, follows safety procedures, job duties, and company policies
- Promote the HCCO image and brand
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older required.
- Drivers License is required and ability to obtain a Class B Endorsement
- Must enjoy and excel in a team environment
- Must have an upbeat and positive outlook
- Must be able to function well in a physically demanding environment
- Must be dedicated and reliable
- Good communication skills.
- Proven work experience as a tire technician.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
- Ability to work in a crouched or standing position for extended periods.
- ASE Certifications preferred but not mandatory
- Previous Farm Tire Experience is a plus
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina, lift heavy objects, and walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Great communication skills and attention to detail
Education and/or Experience
- Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems. Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge. Technical training or commensurate technical experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to Read and Interpret Documents such as Safety Rules, Operating and Maintenance Instructions and Procedure Manuals. Ability to Write Routine Reports and Correspondence. Ability to Speak Effectively Before Groups of Customers or Employees of Organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
