Desktop Support Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Information Technologies
Candidate serves in Information Technologies, responsible for computer needs throughout Hancock County.
DUTIES:
Maintain Workstations/ Laptops based upon need,
Install, configure, troubleshoot and test Workstations as configured for the department need
Install/test PC client software.
Provide end-user support in the following areas:
*Determine the nature of problems and coordinate solution internally or utilize outside Vendors.
Perform the following Desk Top Technician activities:
*User account/group/network printer management
*Install/upgrade PC hardware/software as needed
*Virus protection management
Work with county computer users and external vendors regarding computer applications including word processors, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, data base management systems and communications. Maintaining knowledge of current versions and upgrades to applications.
Travel to user sites for problem determination and resolution, installation of computer hardware/software, and training.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Prefer an Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field or 2-4 years of on-the-job experience and CompTIA-A cert.
Working knowledge of hardware, operations, and ability to analyze existing programs and hardware to determine problems, required revisions, and/or additional functions or equipment necessary to achieve desired results.
Specific knowledge for the following operating systems: Windows Operating Systems; x86 architecture PC’s (maintenance-level knowledge); and HP Printers.
Specific knowledge of technologies: TCP/IP (including DHCP, DNS, NAT, and sub-netting); Ethernet.
Effectively communicate with and train computer users on a variety of software.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with vendors to resolve problems and evaluate new and existing hardware and software.
Ability to tactfully and effectively communicate with and train co-workers and computer users, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record
Summary
As a Desktop Support Specialist, you will be essential in providing technical support and troubleshooting software issues to ensure smooth computer management within the organization. Reporting to the IT Manager, you will utilize your core skills in IT support and desktop support to assist users with hardware and software challenges. Your expertise in Microsoft Office, computer networking, and VPN will enhance our team's efficiency. Additionally, your knowledge of SCCM, GPO, and Mac OS will be valuable in managing our diverse IT environment, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

- Strong software and hardware troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer networking
- Familiarity with VPN, TCP, SCCM, and GPO
- Experience in IT support and database management
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,953.95 - $65,000.00 per year
