What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coder position at Hancock County Health System?
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for coding of medical reports, assigning codes to diagnosis and procedures, and accurately abstracting information in computer system for billing.
HOURS: Full-time, 80 hours a pay period. Remote position after on-site training orientation is completed.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate with medical secretarial training and coding training and/or experience preferred. Need to have good typing skills, good computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding system. Must be detail oriented and have good organizational skills. Preferred one of the following credentials: RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CCS-P and 3 years coding experience. Must become AHIMA or AACP certified within 2 years from start of employment.
