Job Overview:
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Fiduciary Fiscal Officer to oversee financial management, budgeting, and compliance within the agency. This position is responsible for ensuring proper financial oversight, fiscal accountability, and adherence to state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong financial expertise, experience in government accounting, and knowledge of fiduciary responsibilities in a law enforcement setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the Sheriff’s Office budget, including financial planning, auditing, and expenditure tracking.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fiduciary laws, as well as internal financial policies.
- Prepare financial reports, reconcile accounts, and monitor fiscal activities.
- Handle payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and grant management.
- Conduct internal audits and assist with external financial reviews.
- Provide fiscal recommendations to the Sheriff and administrative staff.
- Work collaboratively with county finance departments and other agencies on financial matters.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate course work in accounting or business administration
- Three (3) years of fiscal management experience in accounting, auditing, or a related financial field.
- Leadership/supervision experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides you the required knowledge.
- In good standing with your employer and have been free of any disciplinary actions within the past 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in law enforcement, public sector finance, or grant management.
- Familiarity with Ohio public finance laws and county government operations.
- Knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work with confidential financial information and maintain high ethical standards.
- Proficiency in financial software, spreadsheets, and accounting systems.
