Job Summary:
The Hand and Shoulder Center is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our the Hand and Shoulder Center. The candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Practice. Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Answers incoming calls, if requested will transfer the caller to the appropriate person or their voicemail
- Make appointments for all doctors at all locations. (6 Doctors and 3 office locations)
- Checks that all procedure codes have been marked, verify diagnosis matches what problem the patient was seen for, and add appropriate modifiers
- Verify Insurance is active and workers compensation cases are attached to claim
- Posts charges for office and NCS/EMG superbills
- Review daily billing spreadsheet, correct any failed status
- Print Patient's request for a copy of Medical Records and have the patient sign
- Schedules return appointments and provides patients with appointment cards and any specific instructions
- Enters orders for diagnostic testing, prints script and gives instructions to patients
- Provides patient with a return to work/school excuse
- Provides patients with outside therapy referrals
- Obtain authorizations when required
- Prints Doctors schedules to verify receipt of all charts for the day
Check all charts for an assigned physician by verifying: Insurance Eligibilities – Cases are assigned when indicated - Referral has been received – Print all necessary forms – Call patient if necessary for any discrepancy in any above information.
- Assist Medical Records clerk as needed. Send records if requested by a patient at the window
- Send outgoing referral letters
- Collect fees for disability forms
- Assist with answering incoming phone calls as needed
- Make sure the copier, fax, and printer are restocked with paper at the start and end of each day
- Balance the bank bag daily
Greet all patients and obtain:
- Verification from the Patient that we have current demographics/insurance on file and update the patient chart with corrections
- History & Physical form for all new patients
- Signature on Financial Policy and HIPAA release forms
- Obtain test results, call facility if needed
- Print report from CD Scan insurance card, Drivers License and verify accuracy of information against information in Practice Management System, add Co-Pay amount into allocation
- Collect Co-Pay and collect the balance on a custom report, run daily. Open Batch in AM and balance at the end of the day and close Batch
Must be willing to travel to branch offices to perform job duties and responsibilities, if needed.
