INSIDE RUNNER: Inside runs are defined as hand delivers, pick-ups or tasks within a reasonable walking distance from the Firm.

Work schedule: M – F, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Set-up any morning scheduled conference rooms as needed.
• Distribute any faxes, outstanding mail and UPS/FedEx packages.
• Execute any 1st AM runs.
• Re-stock refrigerator, coffee stations and copiers.
• Pick up, sort and distribute USPS mail, inter-office overnight and UPS/FedEx packages.
• • Mail should be distributed by 10:30 AM.
• Relieve receptionist as needed.
• Execute all inside runs up to lunch break.
• • Lunch breaks are flexible and will be coordinated by the Office Administrator, dependent upon availability of staff to cover reception desk and the needs of attorneys.
• Execute bank runs as needed.
• Execute all inside runs by 5:00 PM.
• • Some after hours runs may be necessary.
• Prepare the office for closing, including cleaning of conference rooms, common areas and break rooms.
• Deliver UPS/Fed Ex packages to building pick-up station.
• Deliver outgoing mail to main USPS distribution center.

OUTSIDE RUNNER/DRIVER: Outside runs are defined as any hand deliveries, pick-ups of tasks that are not within a reasonable walking distance from the Firm or that require a vehicle.

Work schedule: M – T, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM., Friday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

• When not executing outside runs, it is the duty of the Outside Runner to perform all of the duties of the Inside Runner along with or in the absence of the Inside Runner.
• All outside runs must be coordinated through the Runner Coordinator in order to facilitate the most efficient use of Firm resources.
• The Outside Runner must communicate any and all changes that may occur or become necessary while away from the Firm.

Essential Requirements:

• Valid Driver's License:
• A current and valid driver's license is a fundamental requirement for most courier positions.
• Clean Driving Record:
• Employers generally prefer candidates with a clean driving record, demonstrating safe and responsible driving habits.
• Reliable Vehicle:
• You'll need a vehicle that is in good working condition and suitable for making deliveries.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent:
• While not always mandatory, a high school diploma or GED is often preferred or required.
• Age:
• Some companies may have a minimum age requirement, often 21 years old.
• Customer Service Skills:
• Couriers interact with customers, so strong communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Time Management:
• Couriers need to be able to manage their time effectively and make deliveries on schedule.
• Navigation Skills:
• Familiarity with navigation systems and the ability to find routes efficiently is crucial.
• Tech Savvy:
• Many courier companies use smartphones and apps for communication and tracking, so comfort with technology is important.

Working Conditions:

Work outdoors on a daily basis, when driving or walking to make deliveries. Work in an enclosed vehicle, such as a truck or van, on a daily basis. Are exposed to hot and cold temperatures due to weather on a regular basis. Indoor work includes normal office environment with some exposure to noise, dust temperature and the like.

Typical Physical Needs:

• Ability to lift and carry packages, which can weigh up to 50 pounds or more.
• Standing for extended periods during loading/unloading and walking to deliver packages.
• The job requires physical stamina to handle the demands of a busy day, including driving, loading/unloading, and walking.
• Driving: occasional need to drive for in-town office deliveries, requiring focus and endurance.
• Bending, Stooping, and Reaching: These movements are common when loading and unloading packages, or accessing vehicles.
• Using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Maintaining balance while walking, climbing stairs, or loading/unloading packages.
• Clear vision is important for navigation and reading addresses.
• The ability to hear and understand speech and other sounds, such as alarms or instructions.
