By creating an inclusive and supportive environment, we seek to elevate handball’s visibility, while empowering athletes to achieve excellence in the sport.
Handball Futures Festival Overview:
2025: Women’s Inaugural Program
2026 and Beyond: Women’s, Men’s and Wheelchair Handball (off on Olympic years)
Teams: North (Yellow), South (Green), East (Blue) and West (Red).

4 days of competition
Opening Ceremony & Fun evening event
End of Competition Celebration & Awards
- Most Valuable Player & Most Valuable Goalie
- Most Valuable Teammate for Each Region (Awarded to the athlete who most exemplifies the character taught in all Handball Future programs)
Location: TBD in Colorado Springs, June 2025
*Free airfare, uniforms, room & board for all athletes, coaches and referees
Staff for each team:
Head Coach and 2 assistant coaches
- Each team receives 15 balls and two portable goals
- At the event: two rental vans and assess to team meeting rooms
All coaches will be:
- American Citizenship
- Safe Sport & CPR certified
Head Coach Training (mandatory) January 25th, 2025:
- Review Festival Details
- Proper use of Stipend ($5K for each region, $1K for coach and $4K for tryouts & region program.)
- Share Training Program Ideas (will vary from region to region)
- Team Tryouts & Selection Procedures (TBD by March 1, 2025)
- Recruiting Assistance (From the Handball Futures Recruiting Committee)
Eligible Athletes
- American Citizenship required
- USA Team Handball Members
- Ages 18-28 (Focus group)**
** Coaches can submit a request for exceptions to either side of this age range. These athletes must be approved by the Handball Futures Festival Committee.
Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Handball Coach to lead each Regional Team for the Handball Futures Festival (HFF). The Coaching focus will be on skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of handball techniques and strategies as well as the ability to recruit high quality athletes from their region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, secure facilities and conduct 2-3 tryouts in your Region.
- Develop the athlete selection procedures for your region.
- Select the athletes for your region who will attend the HFF..
- Communicate with all women’s clubs in your Region to ensure all eligible athletes are included.
- Develop and implement training programs that enhance player skills and game strategies.
- Inspire and motivate players of various skill levels.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes the HFF’s desired athlete character development.
- Stay updated on handball rules and coaching techniques.
***Attendance is required at the HFF Head Coach Training on January 25, 2024 (Via Zoom) ***
Qualifications:
- Proven experience coaching handball.
- Strong knowledge of handball fundamentals, strategies, and fitness training.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of players and adapt coaching styles.
- Well-established time management and organizational skills.
- Safe Sport Certification and CPR Training will be required.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to travel overseas.
