Location: Richmond, VA / Schedule: Monday through Friday, Required Travel / $31.09 to 36.35 Hourly Range Depending along with Excellent Benefits

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Traveling Welder to join our team. In this role, you will be traveling to various job sites to perform welding, fabrication, and metal repair work in industrial, commercial, and construction environments. The ideal candidate will have strong welding skills, a solid understanding of safety procedures, and the flexibility to travel frequently to different locations.

Welder Responsibilities

  • Travel to various locations to perform welding and metal fabrication tasks, including repairs, installations, and custom projects in industrial, construction, and commercial settings.
  • Perform welding using different techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and flux-cored welding on a variety of metals, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine welding requirements and procedures.
  • Inspect materials and equipment to ensure that all welding and fabrication meets safety standards and quality requirements.
  • Work closely with on-site personnel and teams to ensure all equipment operates efficiently and to solve any challenges that arise.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant welding codes, regulations, and safety protocols, including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Maintain and operate welding equipment, tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Complete reports and document work performed, including progress updates, time logs, and materials used.
  • Assist in the setup, dismantling, and cleaning of work areas on job sites.
  • Respond to emergency welding or repair needs as required, particularly for high-priority or unplanned situations.
  • Travel to new job sites as needed, sometimes on short notice, and stay on location for extended periods, with overnight accommodation provided.
  • Maintain a professional and safe work environment at all times, adhering to industry standards and company policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices.

Welder Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a welding apprenticeship or technical training program is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a welder, preferably with a focus on industrial, commercial, or construction welding.
  • Proficient in multiple welding processes, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and flux-cored welding.
  • Experience with metal fabrication and the ability to operate welding equipment and tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while traveling to various sites.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in welding and metalworking.
  • Must be comfortable traveling frequently, sometimes on short notice, to different locations for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; rental vehicle may be provided for travel.
  • Welding certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME) are preferred but not required.
  • Experience with specialized welding processes such as pipe welding is preferred
  • Forklift or crane operation certification is a plus.
  • Experience in the oil & gas, manufacturing, or construction industries is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50lbs).
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various physical positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel frequently and stay on-site at job locations, which may involve overnight stays.
