What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager position at Handel's Homemade Ice Cream?
The Manager is a customer-facing role that requires working opening and closing Shift Lead shifts and ice cream making shifts. The Manager is responsible for the staffing, sales, and operational performance of their Parlor. Shift Leads and Scoopers report directly to the Manager. The Store Manager is accountable to and reports to the Regional Manager. Managers must possess strong people and management skills, be proficient in brand standards and all Handel's products and offerings, have strong customer service skills, be a problem solver, and capable of taking full ownership of their designated Handel's Ice Cream Parlor.
Essential Duties
- Lead by example to create memorable customer experiences, and a positive, fun, and encouraging environment
- Encourage team collaboration and partner with colleagues to build a supportive and cohesive work culture
- Surprise and delight customers with exceptional service, and handle customer complaints expeditiously and tactfully
- Meet and exceed sales and ticket average goals, and implement strategies for the Parlor team to contribute to achieving Parlor sales goals
- Analyze sales and inventory reports to ensure performance is in line with Handel's standards
- Manage hiring process for the Parlor; candidate applications, interviews, offer and rejection communication, and onboarding process
- Recruit a team of fun, fast, and friendly team members to represent Handel's Ice Cream mission
- Train and retain a full staff; predict future staffing needs and focus on team member development for internal succession planning
- Hold team accountable for Handel's standards and operational procedures
- Lead by example and ensure all team members follow company recipes to ensure accuracy of portion size, flavor, and presentation
- Review all ice cream in the holding and serving area to ensure all batches meet Handel's standards including the amount of time in holding
- Coach and develop each team member through live feedback, coaching sessions, and advisory notices as needed
- Responsible for the team's continued development and confidence with all Handel's products and offerings
- Terminate team members not performing to Handel's standards, while following the documentation and coaching process
- Make fresh ice cream to Handel's exact standards
- Create and publish the Parlor schedule by Thursday of each week, scheduling coverage to maximize sales and minimize payroll cost
- Ensure all team members clock in and out for their shifts, and take breaks as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.27 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 43 per week
