Production Manager - Handi-Crafters Opportunity Center
Position Summary: The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production floor to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality output, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. This is a hands-on, service-oriented, task-based role to support our workshop operations. It requires strong organizational skills, proactive presence on the production floor, and the ability to foster collaboration and communication among staff. The ideal candidate will act as a facilitator and resource for our production team—ensuring that day-to-day tasks are completed efficiently while supporting the success of others.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
2 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or operations management.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Strong understanding of production planning, process optimization, and lean manufacturing principles.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and production-related software (e.g., ERP systems).
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities a plus
Commercial Driver’s License, a plus
Ability to use forklift, power jack a plus.
Job relationships:
Responsible to: Director of Production
Supervision of over ten part-time production team members.
Interrelationships: Work collaboratively with workshop supervisors, warehouse coordinators, driver, production support staff and other members of agency’s management team, clients and Business Partners.
Job Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily production activities to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Serve as a key support to workshop supervisors by facilitating workflow and ensuring operations run smoothly. Maintain a constant presence on the production floor, observing operations and stepping in to provide hands-on assistance where needed.
Supervise part-time production staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Provide feedback, guidance, and reinforcement to support their professional growth and performance.
Develop and implement production assembly job set-ups and train supervisors to meet customer specifications and deadlines.
Conduct time studies and create jobs specifications.
Ensure all products are manufactured on time, and in compliance with company standards, regulatory standards and safety regulations.
Monitor inventory of raw materials and finished goods; coordinate logistics between warehouse and assembly floor.
Analyze production data, tracking metrics to identify bottlenecks, optimal workflow and implement process improvements when needed. Assist with documentation and reporting as needed to support operational goals.
Promote collaboration and strong communication across all production areas, encouraging a positive, team-centered work environment equipped to maintain high standards and quickly address issues.
Enforce health and safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA or other regulatory requirements.
Cover for Director of Production and, Workshop Supervisors, as needed.
Perform duties in accordance with Handi-Crafters Opportunity Center’s values, policies, and procedures.
Other duties as assigned to support the organization.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, handle, reach, talk and hear.
Employee must walk, kneel or crouch. Occasionally, employee must sit and balance.
Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
