Job Summary:

Hands of Healing’s Lead Clinician will be responsible for providing mental health assessment and counseling intervention services, as well as continually monitoring and documenting clients’ mental well-being and overall adjustment to the program. The clinician’s functions are performed as part of a multi-disciplinary team and include development and implementation of client therapeutic plans, facilitating transfers, and reunification planning.

All duties will be performed based on education, training, and certified counseling experience within the social service field. Hands of Healing’s Clinician team members are subject to work extended hours and weekends, and to be on-call.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate clinical services by providing oversight, supervision, and training of staff clinicians, monitoring clinical services documentation, and developing and maintaining ongoing partnerships with community-based providers.
  • Conduct intake, admission, and diagnostic assessments with clients, and document results according to Hands of Healing’s standards.
  • Collaborate with treatment team members and clients to develop treatment plans.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic client groups (if applicable to your clinician role)
  • Continually monitor the mental well-being of clients and arrange for appropriate services as needed.
  • Provide consultation and documentation regarding clients’ functioning, mental health status, and treatment needs.
  • Provide clinical services within Hands of Healing’s licensing and funding source guidelines.
  • Participate in and comply with all meetings, assignments, process improvement, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • The LC will collaborate with the Lead YCW Supervisor on duty to arrange for transportation of UC admitted to inpatient care or transferred to RTC
  • The LC will provide guidance to other Clinicians to ensure collaborative efforts with Case Managers, FFS and Case Coordinators to determine safe and timely release of UC.
  • Attend all organizational required trainings and attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Travel as needed for trainings or to transport youth to destinations located within the U.S.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free work area.
  • Always ensure the proper supervision of youth.
  • Able to professionally and productively react to change and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

· At a minimum, the Lead Clinician must have an MSW, plus 2 years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience; or a master's degree or Ph.D. in psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science in which clinical experience is a program requirement, plus 2 years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience; or a bachelor's degree plus 5 years of clinical employment experience in the behavioral sciences. The Lead Clinician must have supervisory experience and be licensed to provide clinical services in the state where the care provider is located.

  • Licensed to independently provide mental health diagnostic assessment and treatment in Texas
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with children, youth, and/or families from high-risk backgrounds.
  • Required to work a flexible schedule to facilitate program services.
  • Cleared Tuberculosis test results.
  • Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
  • Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Cleared pre-employment and random drug test results.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Compliance with annual requirement of 50 training hours as mandated by Hands Of Healing, ORR, and state licensing standards
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children and youth in inpatient, residential, or detention facilities.
  • Experience working with undocumented children and/or refugees

Physical Demands:

Must be able to obtain Emergency Behavior Intervention Training (EBI)/Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping and lifting up to 20lbs required to complete daily tasks.

Work Environment:

Work is at a youth care facility at which minors receive multiple services. Two shifts per twenty-four-hour period. Work shifts are subject to change. Noise levels vary from mild to moderate. Predominantly indoors, occasional outdoor monitoring or activities.
