OB SUMMARY

Hand of Healing’s Training Specialist is responsible for partnering with the Director of Education and Training and Planning and Development.

Essential Functions:

· Oversee and manage agency wide education and training projects in accordance with HOH and ORR policies and procedures, Cooperative Agreement, licensing minimum standards, and all other applicable state and federal law, rules, and guidelines.

· Identify, develop, and coordinate training procedures to improve current processes, operational performance and maximize efficiency in monitoring and enforcing compliance throughout the agency.

· Work closely with Director of Planning and Development in identifying training needs for agency wide compliance with childcare licensing standards and ORR policies and procedures to continually maintain compliance and improve services agency wide.

· Manage all information received and maintain current files.

· Attend and participate in all staff meetings, trainings, workshops, conferences and any other staff related activities required by the position.

· Respect all HOH business to the highest level of confidentiality.

· Maintain professional and ethical standards as prescribed by HOH.

· Convey a professional and positive image and attitude at all times.

· Monitor proper use of equipment and materials to ensure health and safety and prevent damage.

· Use appropriate safety techniques and report any unsafe conditions.

· Strictly adhere to Technology Acceptable Use Policy including, but not limited to, no cell phones allowed in the program as appropriate to the position.

· Strictly adhere to No Touch Policy.

· Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to the Child Abuse Hotline and to the designated administrator or supervisor.

· Accompany Agency as needed during an evacuation because of hurricane, severe weather, fire, natural disaster, terrorist activity, disease outbreak, or any other reason that necessitates an evacuation to some other location. Evacuation can and often does require travel to different cities for several days at a time.

· Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion.

· Maintain effective, professional work relationship with all HOH personnel.

· Courteous and presentable to all Federal, State, and Local Agencies and any other visitors who frequent HOH facilities.

· Comply with dress code at all times.

· Follow the chain of command at all times.

· Submit completed and accurate timesheets in a timely manner.

· Maintain excellent attendance, punctuality and time management.

· Comply with, but not limited to, all required logging, documentation and reporting as required by DFPS Minimum Standards, ORR and HOH policy and procedures.

· Comply with all annual requirements and trainings as stipulated in DFSP Minimum Standards, HOH and ORR Policies and Procedures. (i.e. CPR, Behavior Intervention and Staff Development Training, Tuberculosis Skin Test, Criminal History Checks and Drug Testing).

· Perform other related work as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Master’s Degree in related field preferred; or a Bachelor’s degree in related field plus five years of experience performing related responsibilities; Any educational or experiential qualifications to be considered as equivalent, in lieu of the above, require prior approval of the President/CEO.

· Must have the ability to work after 5:00 p.m., weekends, and holidays; on-call; travel as required by the position.

· Must be driver insurable, able to drive company vehicle, or provide transportation if required by the position.

· Must have the ability to accompany Agency as needed during an evacuation because of hurricane, severe weather, fire, natural disaster, terrorist activity, disease outbreak, or any other reason that necessitates an evacuation to some other location.

· Must have knowledge of and ability to interpret ORR and HOH Policies and Procedures, DFPS Minimum Standards, and all other pertinent rules and regulations.

· Must have knowledge of administrative practices, principles, and techniques.

· Must be proficient in skills associated with the position to perform the job successfully (i.e., communication, reading/language/writing in English/Spanish, mathematical, computer, and reasoning ability).

· Must have ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes.

· Must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

· Must have the ability to develop tools, monitor, and formulate reports for the continuous improvement of program services.

· In absence of a more specific rule requirement, demonstrate competency, prudent judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities.

· Must comply with all annual requirements and trainings as stipulated in state licensing minimum standards, ORR and HOH policies and procedures (i.e. CPR, Behavior Intervention, Staff Development Training, Tuberculosis Skin Test, Criminal History Checks and Drug Testing).

  • Cleared Tuberculosis test results at hire; background check from appropriate entity.
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of hire and Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Cleared pre-employment and subject to random drug test
