What are the responsibilities and job description for the Learning and Development Specialist position at Hands of Heartland?
The Learning and Development Specialist will lead in-person and virtual training sessions for all newly hired team members and will be required to travel across Northeast Nebraska including Fremont, West Point, and Norfolk. This position is responsible for creating the first impression for team members throughout the new hire training process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate initial and ongoing team member training.
- Organize and schedule event logistics, as well as design and prepare materials for in-person and virtual training classes.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date training records.
- Obtain or develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
- Plan, organize, facilitate, and order supplies for employee development and training events.
- Develop and maintain organizational training calendar and ensure employees have knowledge of events and resources.
- Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results.
- Work closely with the Team Member Resources (TMR) team to ensure that learning services address state and company needs.
- Work effectively as a team member with other members of management and the TMR staff.
- Research training best practices to stay current with new techniques and practices, as well as best practices in the field and topics related to specific populations/needs.
- Complete all other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to three years of experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Experience operating in a training role with hands on instructor experience preferred
- Mandt and CPR Instructor certifications preferred. Will be provided upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate with other people in-person, by telephone, and in writing
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
