About Hands On:
The Hands On Children’s Museum is located on the picturesque East Bay waterfront in downtown Olympia. We are a nationally known family learning destination and the most visited children’s museum in the Pacific Northwest hosting more than 300,000 visitors each year. Our mission is to stimulate curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills through rich, interactive learning experiences. Voted a “Best Place for Kids” for more than a decade, the Museum offers a state-of-the-art LEED Gold facility with 150 indoor exhibits, a half-acre Outdoor Discovery Center, Art Studio, a MakeSpace for tinkering and inventing, café and gift shop, and award-winning education programs including camps, workshops, preschool, parenting classes, field trips, community outreach and family support programs.
Position Overview:
Work for an award-winning Children’s Museum, voted a “Best Place for Kids” for more than a decade! The incumbent must exhibit exemplary customer service, project management, and organizational skills. The Reservations Coordinator will demonstrate clear communication, adaptability, multitasking, good judgment, problem solving, and strong database skills in carrying out their daily tasks. This position is responsible for the reservations for parties, camps, preschools, onsite field trips and group visits, and other museum programs. The Reservations Coordinator publicly represents the museum by responding to phone, email, and in-person inquiries each day, and therefore must personify a cohesive voice for the entire organization. As a member of the Visitor Services Department, the Reservations Coordinator is also responsible for supplemental support of daily operations when the situation arises.

• Ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences, including general Museum visitors, children, teachers, parents/caregivers, program donors, and community members in a professional manner.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of and experience in sales desired.
• Exceptional project management & problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment.
• High-level administrative skills, including intermediate to advanced skills with various database programs, word processing, spreadsheets, and records management. Ability to gain high level of competency in POS system.
• Retail and cash handling experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a team setting where a high degree of daily communication is required. Must care about and value viewpoints of other team members with different areas of responsibility.
• Must be able to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, and patience.
• Supportive and caring of other staff, visitors, and organizational mission.
• Ability to respond quickly and positively to changing business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of three years of management experience in hospitality, office, or retail setting
• Minimum of 2 years-experience with POS or CRM systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, or any relevant field preferred. May substitute a mix of college, professional education and on-the-job experience.
• Ability to obtain a First Aid and CPR certification.
