What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Assistant Teacher position at Hands-on House Children's Museum of Lancaster?
Hands-on House Children’s Museum of Lancaster is looking for energetic, dedicated teachers for our summer camp. Our camp runs from 8:15 am – 12:15 pm each day and serves children ages 4-8. Our camp serves 20 campers a week; the Summer Camp Assistant Teacher will supervise a small group of campers and assist the Lead Teacher in facilitating activities.
Description
Qualifications:
- 1 years documented work with children
- Degree or in the process of obtaining a degree in early childhood education, art education, STEM education, or related fields preferred
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work outside and be on your feet for extended periods, and lift 25 pounds
- Available for at least 7 of 8 weeks of camp (running from June 16 to August 15 with the week of July 4th off) and staff training during the week of June 9-13
- Child abuse, state police, and fingerprinting clearances required
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in teaching planned art activities and projects to groups of 18-20 campers at a time
- Supervise a “mini group” of 9-12 campers
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining classroom space
- Assist in organizing, setting up, and cleaning up materials for activities
- Supervise children during transitions, playground time, museum play, art and STEM activities, and other specified times as needed
- Direct and supervise teen volunteers during activities
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Ensure safety policies are followed
Other Information:
- Average workday: 7:45 am- 12:45 pm, Monday-Friday
- Rate: $15 an hour
- Seasonal, part-time hourly position
