Give Tech Help at Multnomah County Library (age 18 ) Referral
Do you always get asked by friends and family members to help with their tech issues - and love it? Share your tech skills with library patrons who need help with mobile devices, websites, downloading, e-readers, getting started with tech, and more. Tech Help sessions involve working with people one-on-one and using a variety of devices. Empower patrons by improving their computer skills and their access to information.
Currently recruiting :
Central Library , 801 SW 10th Ave, Portland, 97205. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays during open hours. Mandarin and English fluency.
Gresham Library , 385 NW Miller Ave, Gresham, OR 97030. Wednesdays 1 : 00 - 3 : 00 pm - Russian and English fluency.
Hillsdale Library , 1525 SW Sunset Blvd, Portland, OR 97239. Tuesdays 5 : 30-7 : 30 pm, Wednesdays 5 : 30-7 : 30 pm, Saturdays or Sundays 12 : 00 - 2 : 00 pm - English fluency.
Kenton Library , 8226 N Denver Ave, Portland, OR 97217. Fridays 12 : 30 - 2 : 30 pm. Spanish and / or English fluency.
Midland Library , 805 SE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97233. Saturdays 2 : 00 - 4 : 00 pm. Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, or English fluency.
Rockwood Library , 17917 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97233. Wednesdays 3 : 00 - 5 : 30 pm. Russian or Vietnamese and English fluency.
Woodstock Library , 6008 SE 49th Avenue, Portland, OR 97206. Tuesdays 1 : 00 - 3 : 00 pm. Mandarin or Cantonese and English fluency.
Time commitment :
One weekly shift for a minimum of 6 months. Start dates are flexible and the day and time of your shift will be decided in collaboration with the Tech Help team.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Help people use the Internet and assist with their email accounts.
- Teach patron resources related to Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Home Office and other office productivity software.
- Assist patrons with learning about personal electronic devices like e-readers, cell phones, laptop computers, tablets and various applications.
- Help people use the library catalog and other library electronic resources.
- Please note, we do not perform repairs or troubleshoot equipment problems or failures.

Training :
Multnomah County Library's mission is empowering our community to learn and create. Volunteers will partner with patrons and support them in their digital literacy goals.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity.
