Business Unit Director Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Business Unit Director to join our leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the operations of a key business unit within our manufacturing organization. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for the business unit, ensuring alignment with overall company goals. Develop and implement business plans to drive growth, operational excellence, and efficiency.
- Assume full responsibility for the unit’s Profit & Loss (P&L) management, focusing on driving revenue growth, managing costs, and ensuring profitability.
- Analyze market trends and competitor strategies to identify growth opportunities and innovations. Collaborate with senior leadership to expand the unit’s product offerings and market share.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and regulatory requirements are met.
- Ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies while promoting a culture of sustainability.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN or other methodologies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering accountability, innovation, and excellence. Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development for team members.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key customers, ensuring their needs are met with a focus on quality and on-time delivery.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and lead initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and increase efficiency through lean manufacturing or other continuous improvement methods.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., finance, supply chain, engineering, sales) to ensure alignment with company-wide objectives and smooth operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.
- 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record in progressive leadership roles focused on achieving business objectives.
- Experience in custom manufacturing is a plus.
- Strong background in scaling businesses and hands-on P&L management experience is required.
- In-depth understanding of ERP systems and their importance in manufacturing layout and operations.
- Experience with ISO9000 or similar certification systems in manufacturing and compliance.
- Expertise in manufacturing line optimization and lean environments.
- Experience with transferring a manufacturing business.
- Strong strategic mindset and the ability to drive growth, identify new opportunities, and create scalable operational frameworks in fast-paced environments.
- Proven ability to manage P&L and deliver strong financial results.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
