What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Coordinator position at Handy Distribution?
SUMMARY
Plans, schedules, and coordinates the fabrication of galvanized sheets for delivery to NB Handy branch facilities and customers. Maintains accurate inventory records and performs other administrative functions as needed to satisfy branches and end customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
- Verifies and replenishes individual branch metals inventories levels utilizing E3 procurement software.
- Determines daily production needs and establishes production schedules to meet branch requirements.
- Distributes copies of schedules to appropriate operating personnel.
- Reports receipt of damaged, defective, and/or otherwise unacceptable material to appropriate. Manages the mill claim process from cradle to grave.
- Enters all production data into Work Order software at a minimum of twice each workday.
- Receives and responds appropriately to all phone calls from Branch and Corporate personnel.
- Receives, schedules, and coordinates all special requests to satisfy customer needs and increase overall revenue through the Steel Center.
- Assists Steel Center Manager in performing cycle counts when requested.
- Enters inventory receiving records into Mincron software and produces individual coil tags to be placed on coils by crane operator.
- Serves as backup to the Steel Center Manager during absences as needed.
- Complies with all Company safety practices and procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be eligible to complete certification and be licensed to operate forklift and regularly keep up-to-date with any changes in the requirements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, interpret and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization is necessary.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s, as well as, the ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. The ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations is also necessary.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient computer skills with a solid understanding of Microsoft office. Experience with Mincron preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at desk and walk around plant checking inventory and handing out schedules to employees for production.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
