Job Duties/Scope Of Work
Perform fire suppression, hazardous materials, emergency medical, rescue, inspection, testing and maintenance activities in accordance with NFPA requirements as required by DOE Order 420.1. Successfully participate in and complete the Hanford Fire Department (HFD) new-hire Firefighter academy as well as the Washington State Firefighter Apprenticeship Program (3 years), including off-plant class time at an accredited higher education institution. This is an entry level position initially assigned to a day-shift Mon-Thurs during training.

Basic Qualifications
*Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must have valid and current National Testing Network CPAT and FireTEAM tests.
- International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard Firefighter 1.
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician – Basic, or Washington State Emergency Medical Technician - Basic.
- Must become WA-EMT-B within 18-Weeks of hire.
- IFSAC or ProBoard Haz-Mat Awareness and Operations level certifications.
- Must meet predetermined medical/physical fitness requirements.
- Must pass an annual HFD physical fitness assessment.
- Must possess/obtain and maintain a valid WA State Driver's License.
- Successful applicants must continue to meet all required certifications and standards throughout employment, (e.g.: NPFA standards, Department of Energy orders, medical, security, fitness, etc.).
Desired Qualifications
*International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro Board Firefighter II.
- Prior experience as a Firefighter or Paramedic.
