Job Duties/Scope Of Work
Hanford Mission Integration Solutions (HMIS) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to establish and develop a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) process. FOIA is new within HMIS and this position will also perform other communications services reporting to the current HMIS Chief of Staff, and Communications & Community Relations department. The successful candidate will be instrumental in setting up the FOIA framework and developing the necessary requirements to ensure compliance and efficiency. This role supports DOE and all prime contractors at the Hanford site, including Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure, LLC (H2C), Washington River Protection Solutions LLC (WRPS), Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), Navarro ATL, and Inomedic Health Applications (IHA) for both FOIA and One Hanford communications needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive FOIA process for HMIS.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document FOIA requirements and best practices.
- Establish procedures and guidelines to ensure timely and accurate responses to FOIA requests.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of FOIA processes and communication efforts, recommending improvements as needed.
- Assist in preparing and distributing One Hanford news stories and other communication products.
- Support the development and implementation of communication strategies for Hanford-related progress and key milestone initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
*Bachelor's degree in public administration, communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in handling FOIA requests and understanding FOIA regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to support various communications products.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Desired Qualifications
*Experience in a government or public sector environment.
- Familiarity with Hanford site operations and history.
- Experience in public relations or communications.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $61.38
In accordance with the HMIS salary determination process, offers will be made by taking into consideration the level of assigned job duties, responsibilities, and the candidate's qualifications relative to internal peers and the external labor market. A candidate's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
