What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Handler - Hamilton, NY position at Hanford Pharmaceuticals?
Operate, inspect and ensure maintenance of material handling equipment (overhead doors, dock leveler, forklift & charger, pallet jack, drum truck, hand truck). Supply assigned position with materials/items to complete work per standard operating procedures. Clean equipment and areas following prescribed procedures. Load and unload trucks. Check counts, ensuring accuracy. Store materials, items etc. and ship per procedures. Update and maintain inventory records, report accurate data to Production personnel when required. Move materials to and from production areas as needed. Assist packaging line operations as needed, to include: operation of filling machine, labeler, and packaging equipment per procedure; strict adherence to standard operating procedures and current good manufacturing practices is required. Works in a positive and constructive manner with other departments; assists in and ensures completion of required training and documentation; completes required paperwork for a cGMP regulated environment.
Work hours are typically 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Thursday. Candidates must be flexible for overtime, and additional days.
Experience & Education requirements:
Candidates should have six months to one year in warehouse operations preferably in a regulated work environment or other manufacturing environment performing like duties with knowledge of cGMP’s preferred. Skills should include mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail, self starter with a high level of motivation.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of warehouse and transportation practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and skill in operating various specialized equipment.
- Skill in operating office equipment, including computer, calculator, facsimile, copy machine, e-mail, spreadsheet databases, and telephone.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate with coworkers, management team members, and other individuals in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
